The crater of the Apennines Published from user
Between August 24th 2016 and the end of January 2017 a terrible sequence of strong earthquakes caused panic and destruction in Central Italy. For mountain territories, already victims of a decade of depopulation, this could have dealt a death blow to the area: the beginning of an inevitable abandonment. However, the proverbial tenacity of these populations has meant that many people and various producers, even if they had to live in makeshift housing, did not abandon their fields, their livestock and their production traditions.
The map shows the area most affected by the earthquake in red and orange, the one closest to the Best of the Apps project. Let’s not forget the green areas which we aim to help and support in the next stages.
