Let’s set off together following the traces of San Benedetto, passing through the places of Santa Rita and between hills and plateaus, in the National Park of the Sibillini Mountains with Monte Vettore dominating the landscape. On our journey we meet inhabited centres on high plateaus dominated by dozens of floral species, which give life to a multicoloured carpet, almost like a mantle covering the valley. The myth of the Sibilla Cave originates here. This cave is at more than 2000 meters above sea level and according to legend was inhabited by a witch capable of predicting the future.

Leopardi described these places as follows:

“And what immense thoughts,
What sweet dreams my vision breathed
Of that distant sea, those blue mountains “
